Danneel Ackles was born in Lafayette, Louisiana, USA on March 18, 1979 as Elta Danneel Graul and was raised in the small town of Eunice in St. Landry Parish by her parents (Deborah and Edward), alongside her brother (Gino Graul). She was named after her great-grandmother. Her middle name is Danneel which was named after Danneel Street in New Orleans, she goes by her middle name rather than her first name. She moved to Los Angeles and went by her stage name Danneel Harris. She married Jensen Ackles on May 15 2010 and now goes by the name Danneel Ackles.

Modelling & Acting

She is an American Actress and model and is known for her roles in Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008), A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, One Life to Live (1968), One Tree Hill (2005-2009), Fired Up! (2009) and Friends With Benefits (2011).

Began With Modelling

Danneel worked as a model for companies such as Big Sexy Hair and Juicy Jeans before landing her first acting role in 2003 on the American Broadcasting Company Soap Opera television series One Life to Live as Shannon McBain, a student attending the fictional Llanview University. She relocated to New York for the role and left the series in December 2004. Since then Danneel has gone on to appear in shows such as What I Like About You, How I Met Your Mother, and CSI: Miami. Her first film role was in the short film The Plight of Clownana. Danneel has appeared on the Maxim Hot 100 in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Major Recurring Role

In 2005, Danneel began working on a major recurring role, as Rachel Gattina, in the Third Season of the CW television series One Tree Hill. She returned to her role as a series regular for the shows Fourth Season. In season five, Danneel appeared in two episodes as Rachel due to a change in the season's format. In season seven, Danneel returned to One Tree Hill with her role of Rachel over a course of seven episodes. She was in-talks to return for the series eighth season but due to scheduling conflicts these plans never materialized. In November 2006, Danneel appeared on the cover of Maxim alongside One Tree Hill cast members Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton.

Female Lead in a New Line Cinema Comedy Film

In January, 2007, Danneel was cast as the female lead, role Vanessa Fanning, in Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, a New Line Cinema Comedy film, which was the sequel to the 2004 film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. Filming took place in the same month in Shreveport, Louisiana. The film was released in April 2008 to mixed reviews and went on to gross over $43,439,123 worldwide. Danneel reprised the role of Vanessa in the third and final film of the trilogy A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas which was released in November 2011.

Major Supporting Roles

Danneel had major supporting roles in both films Fired Up! (2009) and The Back-Up Plan (2010). In May 2009 Danneel was announced to have been cast in The Roommate, a Screen Gems Thriller film. Danneel portrays the role of Irene Crew, a high-profile fashion designer. The film was shot in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California. The film suffered numerous push-backs due to unknown reasons and eventually was released In February 2011 to a $15.6 million opening weekend despite negative reviews from critics and went on to gross over $40 million worldwide.

Friends With Benefits

In September 2009 Danneel appeared in Friends With Benefits, a sitcom television series pilot which was picked up by NBC. It was originally set to air on NBC as a midseason replacement during the 2010-11 television season but was delayed till August 2011. Danneel portrayed the role of Sara Maxwell a doctor desperate to find the right guy. The series premiered to a low 2.34 million viewers and mixed reviews from critics. The series was not renewed for a second season due to low ratings.

In 2012, Danneel appeared as Jill Rhodes in the TV movie Naughty Or Nice. In June 2012, Danneel was announced to have a major recurring role in the second season of the TV Land Sitcom television series Retired at 35. (Johnathan McClain). She played the role of Jenn Harris in three episodes.

In 2013, Danneel has appeared as Olivia in two episodes of the TV series, How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life).

In 2014, Danneel appear as Julia Penman in the film Baby Bootcamp. The writer/director of the film (Christie Will) explained to me the synopsis:

"When super cute fitness instructor Julia Penman turns thirty with no husband prospect in sight, she vows to start a family of her own – with or without a man – that is, until adorable widowed father Scott joins her Baby Boot Camp. The single father of two quickly wins Julia’s heart when her sister enlists the cash strapped Julia to help Scott out as a part-time nanny. Thinking it will be a breeze Julia realizes it is anything but when she gets a crash course in her own baby boot camp trying to learn how to care for Scott’s one year old and seven year old daughter Charlotte who is still quietly mourning the loss of her mother. Seeing Julia as a threat to her mother’s memory, Charlotte does everything possible to try and sabotage Julia’s role as part time nanny and hopeful love interest to Scott."
